How to Copy Files in SharePoint and Preserve Metadata Property Column Values

In SharePoint, you may want to copy files between document libraries, there are number of options as discussed here. However if not all those options will allow you to copy the files and preserve the metadata that is associated with the documents.

 

Even if using the native Sharepoint copy command in the Ribbon if you copy sometimes the column values and metadata don't come across.

 

Tru Copy Paste will allow you to do that with a new feature.

Effectively this option will carry over the meta data from the source library to the destination.

2. Between Sites and Site Collections
3. Between folders
4. Any Document type including PDFs
5. Any metadata column type.
